Keep the talk and the questions in their own boxes
Student presentations overrun, and the questions are what get squeezed — which is unfortunate, because the questions are usually where the assessment evidence is. Running the talk and the Q&A as two separate timed blocks fixes it without anyone having to be the villain.
This opens as a two-step chain: Presentation for 8 minutes, then Q&A for 4. Start it as the student begins and it moves to questions by itself, with a chime at the handover and the current stage on the dial. Set a warning chime at one minute so presenters can land their conclusion rather than being cut off. Adjust both lengths to your rubric before you start, and share the exact setup with your class using Copy link so they can rehearse against the real timings.
