45 Minute Timer

A full lesson, timed from the front

Forty-five minutes is a lesson, a mock paper, a workshop segment, or a long revision block. Over a stretch this long nobody needs to watch seconds tick, and a twitching display quietly undermines the quiet you are trying to create.

Turn off \”Show seconds above 10 minutes\” in Settings and the dial shows whole minutes until the final ten, then returns to seconds for the run-in. Set a warning chime at five minutes so students can finish properly rather than being stopped. If you are invigilating or circulating, pop the timer out so it floats above whatever else is on screen, and use the + 1 min button if you need to extend without destroying the session. The timer works out the remaining time from the clock, so it stays accurate even if the tab sits in the background for the whole lesson.
